Musica Viva’s Random Acts of Music
Out of the concert halls and into the streets, Musica Viva’s Random Acts of Music will delight and surprise with spontaneous free music.
Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6 May until 22 May, Melbourne’s streets will come to life with the sounds of music, featuring Shrewd Brass, Amanaska and Ogham Soup.
World music outfit, Amanaska layer and mash cultures together in new and exciting ways. Be taken to the Far East with their rhythmic and melodic sounds. Their performance will feature voice, trumpet, keyboards, sound-mixing and didgeridoo with Simon Lewis, Janine Maunder and Vinod Prasunna. Groove to their sounds each Wednesday.
Speaking about this exciting new project, Helenka King, Victorian State Manager, Musica Viva says, ‘we want to bring the joy of music to the city streets of Melbourne, to surprise and engage with audiences in a new way. Some people may never have heard a brass ensemble, expecting something only loud or solemn, or even experienced music close up. We want to change those perceptions, and of course, make beautiful music for all to enjoy.’
